Jesus’ resurrection points to something even greater

Bible Reading: Revelation 21:1-8

Throughout the entire life of Jesus, we see the glories of heaven displayed on the earth. Each time we see blind eyes opened, storms calmed, and lepers healed, we are reminded of a future home in heaven where there will be no pain, no natural disasters, and no diseases. Perhaps the resurrection of Jesus is the greatest reminder of what heaven will be like as we will also be raised from the dead and live eternally with God.

Yet, the resurrection of Jesus points forward to an even greater resurrection. Not only of our human bodies, but of the entire universe. Revelations 21:1-8 reminds us that there will be a new heaven and a new earth. This New Heaven and New Earth will replace the current heaven and earth that we see around us.

Take a moment to imagine how amazing heaven will be…

Think about this. If this current world took God six days to create, how much greater will our heavenly home be which God has been preparing since the foundation of the world!

I pray that today, as you reflect on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, you will be overwhelmed by the thought of our heavenly home. Let your future reward motivate you to live this life for the glory and praise of God and the good of others.

Have you become too focused on this present earth? How can you keep the hope of future glory fresh in your mind today?
