What to Expect

What to Expect

What is worship like?

Central is a diverse community of believers from all kinds of backgrounds with one common denominator: Jesus Christ. Our goal is not to impress each other, but to live for the glory of God. Our preaching is taught from the Bible and is gospel-centered. Our musical approach to worship is also based in scripture and is meant to glorify God. We care more about substance and the worship of God than anything else. Our manner of dress ranges from those in casual clothes to those who choose business attire. We want to be defined not by our dress but by our relationship to Christ and one another. We invite you to dress however you are comfortable. Our goal is that when you worship with us at Central you feel welcome by our faith family and that you experience the power and presence of God in our worship.

Childcare

Central offers a rich and energetic preschool and children’s ministry. All of our volunteers are trained and excited to serve in our children’s ministries. Every Sunday morning we offer Sunday School at 9:30 and 11:00 am. The Sunday School classes are an age-graded Bible study for all ages. We have additional children’s programs on Wednesday evenings during the school year.

Small Groups

Central offers a variety of small groups that are geared around topic and demographics at both 9:30 am and 11:00 am. The goal of these groups is to provide a sense of community and opportunity for discipleship. These are offered on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening.

We hope to see you at Central soon!

Beliefs

Beliefs

We are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. The following are Central’s core beliefs:

We believe in the inerrancy, infallibility and inspiration of the Bible.
We believe in the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God Holy Spirit.
We believe in the virgin birth, the sinless humanity and deity of Christ, the substitutionary death and the bodily resurrection of Jesus from the dead.
We believe that man is born a sinner by nature and by choice.
We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through repentance and faith in Christ alone.
We believe that those who trust Christ as their Savior will spend eternity with Him in heaven and those who do not will be punished in an eternal separation from God in hell.
We believe in the imminent return of Jesus Christ to the Earth.

The Big Three

The Big Three

At Central, we believe that a key part of being a disciple of Jesus Christ is being regularly involved in a community of believers. There are so many things that grab for our time and attention during the week. There are 168 hours in a week, what we desire is for every member of Central to give at minimum 3 hours per week to 3 big things. This doesn’t mean you can’t do more, but we believe you should not do less.

Corporate Worship

We believe that worshipping together is vital to your Christian walk. Some have a take it or leave it attitude to corporate worship, claiming they can worship at home just as good as they can worship at church, yet if they are honest it is totally different. As we come together in worship we are renewed, refreshed, restored and rejuvenated together as we worship Christ our King in Spirit and Truth.

Don Mathis says, “Worshiping Jesus together may be the single most important thing we do. It plays an indispensable role in rekindling our spiritual fire, and keeping it burning. Corporate worship brings together God’s word, prayer, and fellowship, and so makes for the greatest means of God’s ongoing grace in the Christian life.” (Habits of Grace)

According to Don Whitney, “There’s an element of worship and Christianity that cannot be experienced in private worship or by watching worship. There are some graces and blessings that God gives only in the ‘meeting together’ with other believers.” (Spiritual Disciplines for Everyday Life)

We currently offer two Sunday morning corporate worship times at 9:30 am and 11:00 am.

Small Groups

We are not just a church with small groups, we are a church of small groups. Our mission is “Making Disciples.” We are not naïve to think that disciple-making happens one hour in corporate worship in one big room. We believe that disciple-making happens in a small group and a more intimate setting. We talk a lot about small groups because we want every member to be actively involved in one.

Small groups are the place where you can build deeper relationships, ask more questions, get more involved and feel more connected. Being a disciple of Jesus means that you invest your life in the lives of others and live in community with them.

Ben Reed says, “Small groups are the heart of the church. Because without relational connections, the church isn’t the church. At best, without relationships, we are putting on a show. At worst, we’re wasting people’s time, energy, and resources. Relationships with people who want what’s best for us and who are headed in the direction we want to head . . . those fuel our faith.” (Starting Small)

We currently offer groups on Sunday at 9:30 am, 11:00 am, and 5:00 pm as well as Wednesdays at 6:30 pm.

Serving

We believe that every believer has a spiritual gift and ability. We are not a “cruise ship” but an “aircraft carrier” that launches people out to serve. We believe that believers are called to use those gifts for the good of the body and the growth of the Kingdom. (1 Peter 4:10-11) It is in our service to others that we learn how to become a true disciple of Jesus Christ. (Mark 10:43-45) In our service of others, we take our eyes off ourselves and onto others.

We offer many opportunities to serve others through our various ministries: Children, Students, First Impressions, Technology, Worship, Evangelism, Outreach and much more. We encourage you to start where you feel called and be willing to learn how to serve with excellence.
